We've had an eventful weekend!

S turned 7 on Friday. We celebrated at home with cake and presents and then went to the Fahrrad Kaiser on Saturday and bought him a new bike.

All of a sudden Saturday B decided he was ready to ride without training wheels. He hopped on S's old bike and took off and hasn't stopped since!
We took the plunge and bought a new caravan. :-) I'm including a picture now so that you can print it out and hang it up on your dart board.

Yes, as of next season we will officially rejoin the masses of anonymous Dutch families who clog up traffic with their campers ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE PROVENCE. Mwahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa!

Happy Birthday, S! What a great bike!

And I had to smile at the caravan. The Germans are always making jokes about the Dutch and their caravans. :-) It's a very spiffy one though.

Hi Chui Hsia, Hi Christina! Oh, I can totally understand why the Dutch have earned such a bad reputation on the highways with their caravans. Have to admit I get really annoyed as well when we're stuck behind one of them. That is, when we're not driving 100 km/hr in the left lane ourselves... ;-)

Kidding. But with this monster I doubt we will even be able to do 100km/hr. So I'm thinking we're probably even going to be making enemies in the right lane now.

Oh well-- there are perks as well, like a fully loaded kitchen and bunk beds for the kids. Can't wait to try it out!

Whoops - called on S's birthday and didn't even wish him good tidings...Happy belated birthday S. And nice bike! The big @ss campter on the other hand ressurects traumatic childhood memories for me...

Dearest LRod: If your parents had hauled you guys around in something this big your vacations might not have been so traumatic! You can actually close it off in sections-- there's a separate "room" for the kids, a separate "room" for us and a sort livingroom/ kitchen. It's probably as big as some of the crappy apartments we lived in in Gainesville! ;-) (slight exaggeration, here, but not much...)

So it's kind of an obscene twist on camping-- we escape television, internet and the pressures of daily life, spend a lot of time outdoors, and get a lot of fresh air and exercise.

But we also have our own toilet, I can cook on something other than a rickety gas stove and if it rains we're not trapped together like bubonic rats on a sinking ship. Now that's my idea of a vacation!

(Oh, and there's a couch that converts to a bed so we'll have room for you and that cute boyfriend of yours when you're ready to come hang out with us...)

Any Halloween pics of S & B? Did you manage to escape the candy free for all?

first - the kids are GORGEOUS!

second - I have terrible nightmares about clogs, ever since you and Lisa serenaded the loss of my "virginity"

;D
