This is why

your mother always told you never to run with a sharp stick in your hand!

That's not a scratch, it's an honest-to-God puncture wound!

He's OK, but I shudder to think of what would have happened if he'd landed a little bit further to the right...

Oh my goodness... his poor eye... you must've been scared to death. I hope this is all the swelling it does, and the little fella never runs with sharp objects again. His angel must've been working overtime.

You know, immediately after it happened I was in crisis mode and was pretty calm. Saw quickly that the injury itself wasn't that bad so I was just feeling relieved, I think.

It was about an hour later, long after B had moved on to other things that I got shakey. Had a hard time blocking out all of the "What if" scenarios...

Oh geez, life with boys ... they are truly out to pre-age their parents if they don't completely kill them with heart failure or post-traumatic-stress disorder! Glad you've all survived!! Remind me to tell you someday about the time my then 2 1/2 yr.old brother followed my father up a 30 foot ladder to help paint the peak of a storey-and-a-half house. Short answer - they both lived.
