We are celebrating Thanksgiving today with an American neighbor. We've been planning menus for a couple of days and I've spent the last couple of hours cooking: pumpkin crisp, baked Parmesan tomatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, and of course, the obligatory stuffing.
Our friend has baked a ham and is putting the finishing touches on garlic green beans, homemade apple pie and buttery mashed potatoes.
My mouth should be watering at all the delicious smells. It's definitely watering, but not for the usual reasons.
I didn't feel well when I got up this morning and am starting to feel very bad. T minus 25 minutes til showdown but I'm realizing that I've probably picked up the virulent stomach virus that's being passed around at school and kindergarten.
And I'm thinking that instead of spending my afternoon giving thanks at the table that it's more likely that I'll be spending it hanging over the toilet...

Oh no! That's not fair at all. Hope it passes soon and that you'll be able to at least enjoy some leftovers. Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh crud! Feel better soon!

I'm so sorry! Hope you're feeling better before all those delicious leftovers have disappeared!
Furchtbar. Of all the days to go down for the count.
Gute Besserung!
Oh, Betsy, I'm so sorry!!! I hope you're wrong. And yeah, furchtbar, indeed.
Hi guys! Thanks for the well wishes!
Somehow I seem to have beaten it! I'd planned to to hang out with everyone for as long as possible but didn't think I'd be ingesting much more than a glass of water.
Amazingly though, a short time later the fog lifted and I was even able to enjoy the food! I don't know how it happened but am not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
This just gave me one more thing to be thankful for...
well that's good ... stomac pains can make a person very very miserable!
Whew! Glad to hear you're feeling better and didn't have to forgo enjoying the treats you'd prepared.
Pumpkin Crisp sounds good. Puking does not. I hope you feel better and got to eat something nice eventually!
Ugh. That virus is hanging around our school too. I hope it stays at bay!!
I just found your blog. You are a great story teller. I had to laugh at this Thanksgiving tale because I woke up felling great, then around noon the first cramp hit. Within a short time I was done for. My husband had to take over cooking while I hugged the toilet and prayed to die. Leftovers were good though. Glad you got to enjoy Thanksgiving after all.
