Evolution of ze hair

My blogging muse seems to be taking an extended holiday. She made herself scarce over Christmas and New Years, which was to be expected. We're well into the new year, however, and the little tramp still hasn't shown up! Thus, my friends, the lack of posts on this particular URL.

I do have one small diversion for you. I've finally gotten around to putting together a photo album for 2006 and 2007. For lack of any other dangerous hobbies, I've spent an inordinate amount of time experimenting with my hair during this particular time period. Sometimes with success, sometimes with disastrous results...

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Evolution of ze Hair:

You are a braver woman than I. I tend to stick with the same thing for...ever. I like the different looks, but some of them really make you look different than others. But it may be the photos, too.

Wow! I love these! My hair has gone up and down, too, motivated by the conflicting desires to feel modern (short)or avoid maintenance (long). Every time I get my hair cut these days, though, people say, "Oh you look so much younger." So guess what direction I'm headed in?

Honestly, I think the last three photos are the best color and length for you. You have plenty of years ahead of you to go 'short' as my mother would stress. Older women 60+ don't wear long hair. pwwwwwth.
I hope I'm brave enough to cut off my hair when I grow up! ha
Lurking Lisa
missed you.

I'm with Lisa, I like the last three photos the best. Then again maybe that's because I have very dark brown middle length hair myself...

I enjoyed viewing your many faces. Do you notice getting treated any differently depending on the length of your hair? Perhaps that is something that guys experience, and is something I've noticed over the years as my own hair has varied(greatly)in length.

Jen: It's OK-- you don't have to dance around the fact that the "rocket red" made me look like an axe murderer...

You're right, Greg-- you definitely get treated differently depending on hair color and length!

People tend to be more open and friendly with blondes-- especially here. I liked the color, but it absolutely killed my hair so I went brunette. I actually had people I didn't even know telling me that I should bleach it back again. (There just seems to be a knee-jerk reaction out there that blond is automatically better, even if it's not always flattering and if your hair gets fried in the process...)

I really like short, daring haircuts on women, but I think I'm in a very small minority.

In any case, it's been fun to try out all different styles. That's the fun part about being over 35-- I've finally got the nerve (and equanimity) to try colors and cuts that I would never have dared to do when I was younger.

I figure, if I don't like it then better luck next time! :-)

Hmm I've been here a couple of times already, trying to find some really funny witty remark, but I can't find one.

so I'll make a normal comment anyway. I think you look great in all of them (seriously, even the red), but it does seem to give you totally different attitudes. Some make you look more funky & assertive than others.

It's cool to change hairstyle, then it doesn't get boring :). Mind has been getting shorter and shorter over teh last 2 years as I was so sick of long straight hair.

Awww, thanks, Ellen! That comment gave me the warm fuzzies! :-)
