and yet...

My uncle died of ALS last week.
...and yet tomorrow we will attend M's grandmother's 98th birthday party.

M's cousin is responding well to his chemotherapy.
...and yet my aunt is having a relapse of systemic Lupus and is suffering terribly.

Of their own volition my sons have saved up 5 weeks worth of their allowance to give to poor people in Egypt next week.
...and yet today one was needlessly cruel to the other.

The tooth fairy didn't show up last night when B left a tooth under his pillow.
...and yet we have full faith that she will visit this evening while he is sleeping and restore balance to life's yin and yang.

these juxtapositions make me quiet...

I am sorry to see you have to deal with so many confusing contrasting emotions.

Life is full of these "and yets" isn't it?
Hope you don't have the tooth fairy with terrible memory lapses--that's the one who always seemed to eventually visit our children...
;)

And sorry to hear about your uncle and the others.
But hooray for Grandmother!
Your sons sound so sweet, overall.

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt and uncle, but your post is an important reminder that life is rich and full of many possibilities. I'm with Africakid, your sons sound incredibly sweet.

And watch out for that tooth fairy... if she's at all like ours, she tends to get involved in a good book and fall asleep before she remembers her duties.

So this happens to other tooth fairies as well? Does this mean I can take off the hair shirt now?

I'm so sorry about your uncle and your aunt.

Our tooth fairy was wildly erratic and irresponsible. I think it's part of their job. ;-)

And it's the job of brothers to be cruel to each other sometimes. How lovely that they worked together on the saving project, though.

Great post. Life is so unfair and confusing and glorious all at the same time.

Our tooth fairy showed up in a youth hostel in Frankfurt one time, but also a day late.
