Generation gap

Last night we watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with the kids. And it gets to the part where the Abominable Snow monster is about to devour Rudolph and his family-- I almost wet my pants with fear at that part when I was little!

So the Abominable Snow monster goes: "RAAAAWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" and B starts to giggle and says:
"Actually the special effects in this film are pretty poor quality..."

it looks like sesame street. I think your boys are too old for this. I agree with them.

Never seen this movie.

No, he's totally right! It's just funny because I'd never thought about it before. You might never have seen this film, but any American from my generation probably watched it every year and back then I think we all thought the monster was very scary.

It's the same thing with the Wizard of Oz. Ask your American friends what they thought of those flying monkeys! I haven't seen that movie in years, it's probably very campy according to today's standards, but it kept generations of children awake at night! (or at least it kept me awake...)

Aw. My 4 year old still gets scared. That's my favorite Christmas movie.

Mine too! That and the Grinch. Can't imagine Christmas without being able to see both of those!
