The last thing he said before being bludgeoned.

S and I were relaxing in the sun during lunch this afternoon.

"Mom,  I think that later I'm going to get a pig as a pet."

"Not while you're living under my roof you won't."

"OK, so I'll do it when I'm a grown-up then."

"And what do you plan to do about the pig poop?  We've got a dog and a cat right now and you never clean up any of their poop."

"I'll have a wife!"

!!!!????  "What?!  No you won't if you keep up that attitude!  Women don't like it when you say things like that!"

"OK.  But then how did Daddy get YOU to do it?"

Love your title for this post!

I think S. will regret saying what he did after you're done with the job assignments.

Funny thing is that M (his Dad) is totally not like that! Guess he's just soaking it up from society in general. That's what I get for letting him loose on YouTube! :-P

I think an excellent lesson would be to let him do ALL of the chores for a week during this summer break. Clean the toilets, clean the kitchen, plan and cook the meals; shop for them too. Has he learned how to do the laundry yet? What about dusting and vacuuming? You know, he's going to be leaving home some day and it's probably a good idea to teach him now how to take care of himself. He'll probably be 30 before he gets married. Is he going to live at home so that you (Mum) does that for him? Hee hee. I would love to read that post.

I like the way you think! :-) I'm definitely trying to raise him as an independent person. Have always cooked with him and am trying to be consistent about having him clean up any messes he makes.

Will definitely introduce laundry, etc along the way too. Am big into the idea that he should learn to become self sufficient even as a young adult living under my roof...
