We've had a lot of snow in the past week and it's beautiful here! S and B are spending a lot of time outside involved in dubious pastimes like racing their bikes down the icy street and then braking hard in order to do 180 degree (and sometimes 360 degree!) spins. *sigh*This weekend they had a blast on their sleds. Friends built a ramp at the end of a hill which launched the sleighs airborne. It wasn't always easy for the parents to watch, and one kid landed badly and probably broke his arm, but they all had some spectacular rides and I got some spectacular pictures*!
*taken by someone else who had great reflexes, a great eye, and who was not preoccupied with visions of the last time S wrecked a sled...

A kid broke his arm???? And they do ice spins with their bikes???Damn being a parent must sometimes be hard.
I don't know the parents of the boy who got hurt, so I haven't yet heard if it's broken or not.
He landed badly and couldn't move it very well during the 1/2 hour that they were there before they left.
He's an older kid, though, maybe 14, so you could tell that his mom was doing her best to stay cool and not fuss over him.
It is hard being a parent, because you can't always show it when you're worried-- sometimes it's best if the kid is otherwise calm just to come back an hour later and re-evaluate the situation...
