Healthy

I just got back from a long hike along the trails in the woods near our home. The weather is fabulous and everything is in bloom. I was almost home and came upon some neighbors and we chatted for a while under a cherry tree and gorged ourselves on wild cherries! I felt like I was on vacation!

M and I will be enjoying another treat starting this evening. We've bought a fitness station so that we can do strength training together. We've been thinking and talking about it for a long time now and decided to take the plunge-- I'm really excited about it!
I just hope that if I keep up with the exercise and the wild cherries that I'll end up like my 94+ year old Great Aunt Irene who likes to show off her smooth yoga moves. When she's not too busy playing cards or hanging out with friends, that is....

Sounds like a great goal, Betsy! I just finished a cup of cherries myself - it's cherry season in Michigan and I keep getting to the Farmers Market in time for the "seconds" so they're more affordable.

My strength training is simply resistance and weights or when I get to the Y it's more elaborate, but it would be wonderful to have a home machine - let me know how it goes!

Cool toy! And... aiming to be like Great Aunt Irene looks like a terrific ambition. Good luck!

Wow, aunt Irene sure is in form :)
My great auntie is a bit like that too but once in my ignorance (since she looks like a fragile leaf) I offered her my arm as support down a hill. Guess if she was offended??! Then she made it a demonstration to run down the hill instead :) Lol..

yeah for summer walks, wild cherries and flexible yoga stands.
Personally I cannot see any excitement in the fitness torture device though ;)

Last year I decided I couldn't possibly afford a home-gym, and then turned around and joined a gym AND hired a personal trainer. When I total up those costs, buying the home gym would have been a bargain! Obviously, I should have exercised my brain-muscles before doing anything.

Actually that's what we did as well. We spent a fortune for a gym membership when we lived in Michigan, but always had problems juggling with the childcare at the gym. In the end we got smart, plunked down the equivalent of a year's membership and bought a good treadmill. Would you believe we're still using it 7 years later? (Believe it or not M just hopped off of it about 5 minutes ago after a good, hard run.) It's been a great investment!
